Foi o neto de Dorothy Stheel que a convenceu a aceitar o papel no sucesso de bilheteria e crítica "Pantera Negra". A atriz que tem 92 anos, mas só começou na carreira aos 88, não se empolgou quando recebeu a proposta para uma audição. "Não queria participar de um filme de quadrinhos que eu nunca tinha ouvido falar", conta.

A reação de Niles Wardell, neto da atriz, foi diferente ao ficar sabendo do convite, que, para ele, era irrecusável. "Isso não é só um filme de quadrinhos. É Pantera Negra! Você sempre fala em termos fé. Eu quero que você tome uma atitude ou simplesmente não fale mais nisso", conta a atriz, rindo.

Hoje em dia Dorothy é reconhecida na rua pelo papel, algo que, segundo ela, nunca poderia imaginar que fosse acontecer. "Talvez, agora, alguém com 55, 60 anos, perceba que ainda tem muito tempo para realizar as coisas que quer fazer. Tudo o que elas têm de fazer é começar"

Uma das táticas de Dorothy para o treino na segunda audição foi ouvir diversos de Nelson Mandela. "Eu queria entender a personagem. Como ela seria politicamente, como ficou tão poderosa, onde ela teria sido educada', diz.
